Sep 8

We've created this guide to help you understand the Blast Furnace in OSRS. While it can be difficult learning about all of its requirements and uses, we hope that our helpful guide will make life easier for new RuneScape players and be of use to make more OSRS GP.

What is the Blast Furnace?

Blast Furnace is an interesting minigame in Old School Runescape, where you smelt bars. Blast furnace uses half the amount of coal than what regular furnaces use; it's a great way to save money when making ores.

In the game, there are 15 Blast Furnace worlds. They are operated by Dumpy, Pumpy, Numpty, Thumpy, and Stumpy. You can solo this for these dwarves make it simple to take ores from the furnace in order conveyor belt over and over again without any issues.

OSRS Blast Furnace Requirements

If you want to play this minigame, first complete the Giant Dwarf quest. Then head over to Keldagrim and talk with a dwarf named Fenkenstrain at Blast Furnace in order to smelt bars for 10 minutes. If you don’t have 2500 coins on hand or your Smithing is not high enough then just wear Ring of Chaos while talking with him and reduce it down by half!

The best way to cool the bars when they come out of your furnace is by using a bucket of water or ice gloves. Also, if you are on any Blast Furnace-themed worlds, there's an extra fee every hour that costs 72k gold coins and needs to be paid either directly at the foreman or in his coffer.

How to Reach the Blast Furnace

The Blast Furnace can be found in Keldagrim, having started the Giant Dwarf quest. From Seers’ Village, you need to find the mines by going east of Rellekka and using a mine cart or Group Finder minigame for transport back if it is your first time visiting Keldagrim.

Making OSRS Gold with Blast Furnace

If you're looking to make some in-game profits, then the Blast Furnace can actually be a very impressive earner. There are several opportunities for this: at level 15, 6000 bars an hour earns 431k GP; smelting mithril and steel both double that (only short of 1m); adamantite and runite get over it with 101,000 to 107,000 XP hourly.

If you're looking to get your hands on some ore, stop by Ordan's shop in Keldagrim. He has a wide range of ores and will happily help you find what suits your needs best! If that doesn't work out for whatever reason, explore the Blast Furnace factory east of town - it should be easy enough to spot from there.

The store is stocked full of ore that can be used for your OSRS Smithing skill. The dwarves will replenish the stock, often coming into the building and dropping off a type of ore in bulk around 100 at a time. This way they don't have to carry too much with them when traveling from place to place.
